When a Manager, Leader, or Coach lacks the necessary leadership skills, they will revert to micromanaging instead, this will frequently drive away their Associates, Employees, Team Members, or whatever flavor of the month you call them.
Because of their controlling nature, they can also say goodbye to any bonus as their turnover and retention will come crashing down. This tremendous opportunity I call the Greatest Virus in Retail that infects everyone.
With all these viruses going around, this is the one that needs to be stopped in its track.
This disease alone will erode the foundation of any success that you have built or are going to build with your #Teams.
👉 Let go of the rope and I promise you won’t hang yourself.
👉 Stop working 60-plus hours and let your team take some of the workload off of your plate.
👉 Stop being afraid that someone is going to take your job because your are delegating more is nonsense.
There are a few things you can do to try to solve the opportunity of micromanagement:
👉🏼 Establish clear expectations: Ensure that your Team is aware of what is expected of them and how their job contributes to the objectives of the company. They will feel more in control of their work and have more freedom as a result of this.
👉 Delegate work: Give your Team the freedom to do tasks on their own, and when they succeed, let them take on greater responsibility.
👉🏽 Encourage open communication: Encourage your Team to communicate honestly and openly. Employees will be able to express their worries and thoughts through this, and it will also help to develop trust and respect.
👉🏻 Provide training and support: Make sure that your Team have the tools and resources they need to succeed in their roles. This may include training, support from other team members, or access to technology or other resources.
By taking these steps, you can help to create a more positive and productive work environment for your retail team, and avoid the negative effects of micromanagement.Regenerate response
