So…
this is my perception as to how I sound when I speak to others or do presentations on occassion.

Oy.

πŸ€” Why does this happen?

πŸ€” Why does it continue to happen?

It all relates to being BiPolar and is called Pressured Speech.

πŸ‘‰ Pressured speech is a tendency to speak rapidly and frenzied.

Pressured speech is motivated by an urgency that may not be apparent to the listener.

The speech produced is difficult to interrupt.

Such speech may be too fast, erratic, slurred, or too tangential for the listener to understand.πŸ‘ˆ

So why am I bringing up a random subject like this?

Well in all honesty,

I continue to fight this little devil.

Lately it has gotten worse l, but I have fantastic friends that surround me and a team that rolls with it and are VERY supportive.

I believe that there are others of you out there who are in the same boat as I am but don’t know where to turn to or even know that there was a classification for it.

I have been lucky that it has not entirely hurt my
#Retail career, and I could not be happier that I finally have been diagnosed and accepted my #mentalhealth opportunities and learned to just roll with them (assisted BY medication 😎).

…on the positive side I am learning to control this when it rears it ugly head through:

🎯 Recognizing that this is happening.

🎯 Controlling and slowing down my thoughts and breathing.

🎯 Asking my family and coworkers to let me know that it is happening. My coworkers will test me or give me a signal on a live chat that this happening.

🎯 Thanking everyone for their understanding.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Let’s open up the conversation.
